What is the biggest change?

The PRACTICUM exam is being replaced, or shall we say, retired.
The new exam in its place is called the IMPLEMENTATION (IDIX) Exam.
This also means the format is changing.

PRAC = used to have 3 long case studies (about 32 questions each)

IDIX = multiple-choice, drag and drop, Vignettes, hot spots

This means all three exams will use the same question style and structure going forward

What new content has been added to the 2026 NCIDQ blueprint?

There is not a lot of changes to the overal content. However, the exams have been restructured. Some sections were renamed, moved, or expanded. The content isn’t brand-new, but the organization and emphasis are much clearer and more aligned with today’s design practice. Each exam covers two phases of the design process:

• IDFX – Programming & Schematics
• IDIX – Design Development and Construction Documents
• IDPX – Project Management & Construction Administration

The new blueprints align better with the natural flow of the projects

Are there any topics removed from the 2026 NCIDQ exams?

Yes, some outdated sections have been removed to streamline exam focus and relevance. These include Ethics, BOMA & Business Structures
